This photo was taken in November 2006 six months after having moved into the street. I move out next Wednesday.
It is not easy finding an alternative given these criteria:
must have dirtBut I found a one-bedroom cottage out the back of a two storey terrace in Glebe, about 12 minutes walk from my work and 200m from a great coffee shop. I met the owner today and got a big tick. I like the RE agent whom I will liaise with. More photos later.
must have light
must have sun
must be old
must have an open plan living area
must be allowed to have cats
must not be too expensive.

Fantastic that you've found a new place, given that list of musts it would have been a challenge. Erk, packing up house but I love the thrill of new places ... that's why I pop down to the city and live in a new place every now and then.
The packing is irksome. And my emotional state gets very fragile with the worry of whether I am doing the right thing. Will it all explode in my face ... da da ...
This place is unusual to say the least. No way is it cookie-cutter. my son will be chuffed and my daughter warey.
I'm sure Sydney has an occupancy rate similar to our beach cities, in which case people must have been queuing up for this place.
Ah, no. Not for this place. Over the last three weeks I have q'd for lots of places but never with more than 20 interested parties - that is my breaking point.
However, this place is unusual. You have to walk through the owners driveway to get to it. You have to be personally vetted by the owner. There is not a viewing time, but you are taken individually. It is very off-putting to all but someone like me.
She is looking for a long term tennant who can stand the sound of her 4 kids playing - I used to run a child-care centre. She does not want loud music nor parties. She only wants one person.
I am her dream ...
Especially if her garden needs attention.
Post a picture soon.
Her garden is pretty much non-existent. What bliss! The driveway has a smatter of empty upended nursery-pots, a pair of discarded gloves, and a hand hoe.
My area is a breeze of leaves and four weed-engulfed very large planter pots.
Hee hee hee ... pig in poo ... pig in poo ...
I get the keys next Wednesday morning but will get a photo of the front house (the owners house) over this w/e.
The block is security gated and my cottage cannot be seen from the road.
Got your messages re tomorrow. It's fine, we catch up another day.
Phew! Thank you ...
