I know I have listed all sorts of flowers in my blog as favourite but trully it is hard to go past daisys for sheer simple beauty.
I was thinking about those type of songs recently. When I was kid the oldies always seemed to sing songs like that when they got together and I suspect it is still getting sung in nursing homes. What are they going to sing when we are in the nursing home?
Up until recently I was part of a choir called Di Canto and Christine, who you will meet on Sunday, is still part of that choir. They still sing a 45 minute program in nursing homes. They close with "Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye" and before that is a medley of 30s and 40s including "Road to Gundagai" and "Ma he's makin' eyes at me" plus others. However, in the programme is also "Norwegian Wood" and a couple of other Lennon & MacCartney that I forget.
When we drive around on a Saturday my father will often break into "Row Row Row yer boat" or "It's long way to Tipperary".
I think our generation will be okay, but the ones starting from about 1954 onwards will struggle. Probably doesn't matter anyway as their hearing will be so shot to ribbons that they won't hear a shred of it!!
I love the last para!
Hey!
Hey!
I had to sing the song through to make the final exclamation ring true!! Thank you for the sing-a-long ...
... can't hear you ...
