Getting pickled

Taking one's eye off the ball is never a good move, and leads to one's olives shrivelling. Never mind, shall still go through the pickling procedure so that I am ready for a bumper crop next year and have the gear and the procedure down pat.

Aunty provided this "recipe" which is probably as good as any.

Sill behind warm glass

The window-sill in my sunroom faces NE and warms up delightfully. It is just the spot for these African Violets which I rescued from my father's room. I am trying to teach myself how to photograph them indoors using artificial light. As you can see, I still have a lot to learn. I used a tripod to keep it all still. However, I now have to solve the problem of TOO MUCH light! I want the edges to be lit. Next I will use a white light and see if I can project from beneath.

Shonky identification ....

My brothers confidently identified them as Major Mitchell Cockatoos. Well they're not! They are Little Corellas which are distributed across the north, throughout Central QLD, NSW, VIC and parts of SA. The Little Corella perfers woodland, farmland and wetlands and it feeds on seeds and cereal crops. With the more obvious characteristics noted in the image, the Little Corella has a small crest and a yellow tip of iots tail.

Another step forward ...

My second purchase on e-Bay was this Eames retro-style Danish 3 seater sofa with timber frame from a seller in the Blue Mountains. Recovering is a consideration, to enable this sofa to match my existing two single sofas. It's only money.

Didn't it rain, children

Ripening

There could be 30 - 40 olives on the tree. The other tree has none. There are also another two figs developing.
