Bit between the teeth

I think I was fairly accurate with the term "plonk" (past participle "plunk"). Have yet to get the guts to hammer hooks in the walls for paintings and photos. I went overboard at the last place and repairing the walls was a burden. So have taken many photos out of frames and tossed the frames. I feel as though I am down-sizing for old age!

See the boxes in front of the book-shelf? They contain kid-things. Things that I can only sort a bit at a time because it becomes too emotional to throw things out - which I must.

Then need to buy a rug. And a table - sick of eating off my lap! However, yesterday (down near the viaduct of all places) I stumbled over a Lawson's Auction House which had a perfect table with just the central pedestal foot. Just what I am after. And next door to them is a wholesale carpet warehouse.

Over the weekend, I shall show you what spring is doing to the outside. And show you my nearly-fig!!

It's looking very homely already ... I love setting up house.

I'm so effing nosey, don't know why you put up with me. But your new place has so much charm and cosy warm glow. Chairs you can slink your spine into. I'd do a rug with lots of hardwood on outside (I'm bossy too). What's the contraption in front of the telly? Heater? Sewing machine?

You are very kind to satisfy my curiousity.

I am not keen on setting up house because it is not my house and I have to follow rules!

However, this has been an interesting move. Firstly, it has rammed home the need to down-size. This has been helped, too, by the fact that my father has pretty-much nothing left for anyone else to have to dispose of.

Secondly, my daughter took one look at the place and declared it "brilliant" - not often given to that, is she. Well and thoughfully designed, even. My son, as well as calling it BagEnd, also offered to house&cat sit whilst I choof off to Tassie in a coupla weeks.

Effectively, it is a bit like a studio. One big area for living which opens into the garden and a very squashed area for sleeping. You will laugh when I show you the upstairs.

The contraption in front of the telly (old model tele, note) is a heater. I have tossed my 1974 sewing machine as it cost too much to repair and noone knew how to do it! Now I just pay $15 to have hems taken up.

Yep, I am only going to do a small rug and the colour and texture will have to be fairly rustic. I am going to hammer the paintings and photos up this evening.

Hee hee hee ... get to see Blanchett in Streetcar tomorrow night.

I could have screamed this evening. Looked up how the auction at Lawson's went. Even remembered the two lot numbers: 1261 & 1262. An agony of expectation: I will never be able to afford a table that nice. Just what I wanted. Round. Good diameter. On carved pedestal foot.

Bloody hell ... they went for $48 each. Aaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!

Oh maaaannnn.
You missed out on the table!
That'll learn ya.

I LOVE your little house!
It's perfect.
Everything you need.
And I love your chairs
and I love your lamp
and I love your stairs.

Yeah yeah ... but I am on the trail this week ... get nervous with auction things ... cant get the hang of e-bay whereas my daughter revels in it.

My little house is just right for what I need. The space downstairs is just right as is the size and location of the garden.

To ease the pressures, I now need to secure an ongoing job (this one finishes at end October) and get my son into something that produces money (he has been unemployed since May).

Patience is a virtue ...
