Beauty is sodden and cold

Crepe Myrtles had just been planted along the footpath when I moved in three years ago. This is their first brilliant flash of leaf colour.

I love wet, foggy winter mornings - even if I have to trudge off to work!

Well how about that, proof there is autumn colour in Sydney. I love the sprinkle of leaves on the footpath.

I don't know much about Crepe Myrtles -- for example didn't know they coloured in Autumn until blogs told me so this year and didn't know they got seed pods like that. Are they the trees that also get pink flowers?

I planted a crepe myrtle in the front yard this year.
It flowered gloriously then lost all its leaves about 2 months ago!!

How gorgeous.

I stopped by to tell you - since you follow huffing - that I am changing it up a bit. It's now "puffing" - trying to be a bit more positive in outlook.

Crepe Myrtles seem to come in either pink or white. The streets of Balmain are festooned with white CM. They are very popular for street plantings. We have 6 or 7 down our short street and in the very wide verge on t'other side there is a massive pink CM. I have more photos that I will dig out over the weekend. Busy weekend ... you will see why tomorrow.

And my crepe myrtles are just setting buds. I keep forgetting which season you're in DownUnder. It boggles my mind that you're heading into winter -- in June!

I suppose you have to live in a hot, dry country to say you love wet, foggy winter mornings.
