As I mentioned before, when I was in Italy in September 2006, I stayed on a working olive grove outside Assisi. Upon my return, I bought two olive plants about a foot high in small pots. Two and a half years later, those bushes are about 6' tall and I have high hopes for fruit come Spring.

My word they are doing well. Do you get sun in that part of your garden? The challenge in my garden is that most of it is heavily shaded. The sunniest bit is the driveway which is not the spot for putting plants.
Yes, I get lots of sun in the rear after about 10am until about 4pm. This is early morning - about 8am from memory. I am really chuffed with them, but I do give them a regular yet controlled trim. Wont do that again now as i want them to go through the fruiting cycle.
you must have had quite an experience. they look like they are growing quite well.
We stayed there,I loved it!
