They are a gorgeous plant. For the first time after many goes I have got some flowering but not as pretty as these.
I love the Violets! Gorgeous color!
I have tried and tried over the years, but this is the best ever. The window sill is just terrific. I have three leaves that have struck and I am just waiting for a new shoot to appear.
I am wondering - are these the more exotic and hard to grow and manage kind in Australia? Since in Germany (perhaps in Europe, I don't know) these are in the 1-Euro-class of plants - even every supermarket and petrol station has some to sell - they endure almost everything - except me, of course ... .
That pot of pink African violets would cost about $15 in Australia in a flower shop. Maybe in K-Mart they may be a bit cheaper. Yes, they are freely available at many outlets. People buy them readily and they die quickly. At an exchange rate of .67 (which i think it was on the news last night) $15 = E10.
This buy-throw out mentality always unnerves me - with plants even more. I guess African violets nevertheless do very well in German households, my mother-in-law owns some that were given to her mother ... I simply tend to water them too much (I tend to water every plant too much ... )

My daughter is like that: either drowns them or droughts them!
great cat shot. I have inherited my sister two cats while she is pregnant and they are an interesting bunch. Very unique personalities. One actually believes she is the center of the universe what a little diva she is. The other is always hungry. They are complete opposites but I guess that is a good thing.
