If the Christmas Cactus has rounded edges to its segments, while the Easter Cactus has spikey edges to its segments, then this is an Easter Cactus. This is the first of many blooms that will open over the next couple of weeks.

I've never done cactus but they do deliver fab blooms.
I have one blooming now, but must be Christmas. Or who knows. I cut got the cuttings from a deserted house a few years ago. The blooms are enormous and coral-colored.
My guess is, with these, that they remain untended. With a bit of TLC, I expect the 'show' next session to be astounding. There is much decayed wood in the pot.
Are you sure it's not just very early? Cactus and "TLC" are not words which sit all that comfortably together in my mind.
I understand the need for tenderness, but just how do you give a cactus loving care? ;-)

The same way you give a 14 yo loving care.
They are zygo cactus. In the northern hemisphere thaey bloom at Christmas (winter) and so they loom here in winter too. Some bloom earlier especially the red one. Mine are blooming now and some have finished.
