Winter's cusp

Hard to believe that in just two weeks winter will be upon us. Unless you espouse the equinox theory, like my new friend, BB.

My courtyard is going to crash to ground with a thud. It is nicely protected from nasty winds and is totally tiled, which warms up nicely. Even my struck avocado is checking out the environment.

It is only now that the early mornings are becoming a wee nippy. And these poor darlings are very confused.

As I undertook 'ward duty' this morning, I explained to them all, that when I choof off to the Bungle Bungles in the middle of June, they will have a nice young woman come in and chat to them, chuck them under the chin, and check their tootsies.

They hummed in bliss.

Crickey just a couple of weeks to winter. I get so wrapped up in Autumn towards the end of May in my garden that I block out winter until it hits me. The weather is still incredibly warm but also very dry. Not so long ago I was winging about too much rain ... beginning to feel like Hanrahan.

The red on that poinsettia is amazing and I love the metal cat.

But the baby!
What about the baby!
It's too close to go away!

Hah! Quite possibly ... but ...

She is due on 16 July. I return on 1 July. If she arrives early, I am shot.

However, going away serves two purposes. One, the time will go faster for me. Two, I will keep out of my daughter's hair!!

Baby is home and infection is gone. More pics on "Adventure" Carol took a good one of hands.
